Covid-19 update
In February 2022 the UK government announced a general reduction in Covid restrictions. What was not made clear at the time was that optometry practices, in line with other healthcare providers such as dentists etc., are obliged to follow NHS guidelines. This requires the wearing of face masks, social distancing, stringent cleaning along with other procedures designed to keep people safe. We are still following this guidance, and would ask for your understanding and co-operation. Please note we will only require patients to wear a mask in the consulting rooms.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Please stay safe and well!

In the 1950's Francis Cresswell founded his practice to provide eye care services in Garstang. In the sixty years since then the practice has moved with the times. In 1998, Mark Gibson was entrusted with the care of this long-standing practice, proudly upholding Mr Cresswell's high standards.
Throughout sixty years of change, at least one thing has remained consistent - quality of service. We believe good service is paramount, and aim to treat people as we ourselves would like to be treated, committed to giving you the best eye care in a comfortable, relaxed environment.
The latest improvement in our service is the investment in a state-of-the-art OCT instrument, which scans the retina at the back of your eyes in incredible detail, telling us so much more about the health of your eyes than can be seen in a standard eye test. Click here to see more.
Gibson and Thomson Opticians offer thorough eye examinations, a great range of spectacle frames, and much more.

Away from his business, Mark Gibson and his wife Julie are proud to volunteer for and support North West Blood Bikes Lancashire and Lakes, a local charity that provides a free voluntary out of hours transport service to our local NHS hospitals by carrying urgent and emergency blood, platelets, samples, donor breast milk, patient notes, theatre equipment, in fact anything that can be carried by motorcycle between hospitals.
